Make the ground your stories stand on.
Flick across an empty page and a coastline grows. Paint mountains. Drop a spring and watch the river find the sea. Vaelmere is for making a world for the pleasure of it, in an evening, before there is a story at all.
Free. We e-mail you the app and how to open it. No account, no newsletter.
One evening, in sixty seconds. Sound on.

A flick becomes a coastline.
Scatter seeds across the page and land grows where they settle. Nothing is stamped or dragged into place. The shape is yours, and it is never the same twice.

A dropped spring becomes a river.
Water runs downhill and finds the sea on its own. Marsh gathers where it slows, snow sits above a line. Everything on the map has a cause, so it reads as a place.

Named in your world’s own tongue.
Raise a town where the river meets the water. Vaelmere offers names with their meanings, in the flavour of your world, and letters them onto the map in one hand.

Distances you can quote in a chapter.
Trace a journey and read its miles and its days, on foot, by horse or under sail. Corvane to Tarsk: 155 miles, eight days. Solid enough to stand a story on.

Look up, and it is past midnight.
No goals and no wrong moves: every edit is one undo. Print it for a book, a wall or a game table. The world is one file on your Mac, and it belongs to you.
We send it to you.
Leave your e-mail
That is all we ask for. No account, no password, nothing to pay.
The app arrives
A link to the download (about 32 MB) and a short guide to your first evening with it.
Let it past your Mac
Your Mac will stop it the first time. The e-mail walks you through the two clicks that let it in, once.
Why the extra step: Vaelmere is a side project. We have not bought an Apple Developer account, so Apple has not checked the app and macOS treats it as unknown. Nothing is wrong with your download. It needs an Apple silicon Mac (M1 or later) on macOS 12 or later.
Sit down without a story. Leave with somewhere for one to happen.
Free. We e-mail you the app and how to open it. No account, no newsletter.
Asked already
Is it really free?
Yes, while it is in beta. There is nothing to pay and no card to enter. If that ever changes, the build you already have keeps working.
What do you do with my e-mail?
We send you the app, and we write again only when there is a new build. Nothing else, and it goes to nobody else. Reply “stop” to any message and we take you off.
Does the app send anything anywhere?
No. It has no account and no tracking, and it works with the network off. Your world is a single file that stays on your Mac.
Why does my Mac warn me about it?
Because we have not paid Apple to check and sign it. It is a side project, made in the evenings. The e-mail explains exactly what your Mac will say and how to open the app anyway.
Windows? Intel Macs? iPad?
Not yet. Today it runs on Apple silicon Macs with macOS 12 or later. Leave your e-mail anyway if you want to hear when that changes.
